Jeremy never joined the military; they wouldn't take someone with nonfunctioning kidneys. We weren't even able to visit the place where we laid his earthly body to rest last year. Yet today I thank God for the other young men who also lie in their graves, who through their sacrifice for my freedom gave me the right to visit my son's if I could've got on an airplane and gone to Ithaca today. And I thank God for my son whose life was given in the service of an even higher Country. It's Memorial Day...a time to remember.
